FUNERAL
- Funerals may be conducted for any person
who has some connection with this parish, whether a regular
parishioner or not. Funeral services without a mass for
Catholics should be discouraged.
- Masses at funeral homes are not allowed
under any circumstances. Celebration of the Eucharist,
is not allowed in a non Catholic cemetery or mausoleum.
Whenever possible members of the deceased family should
be encouraged to go to Catholic cemeteries as the money
they pay is used for the corporal works of the church and
not for private profit. The archdiocese also provides a
yearly mass said at the catholic cemeteries around the feast
of the Assumption in English.
- Vigil service with the body may take
place in the church the night before the funeral mass.
There may be an hour of visitation in the church before
the funeral service begins the next day.
- Normal time for a funeral Mass is 10:30
A.M. during the week. If the funeral takes place on Saturday,
it will be held at 9:30 A.M. Arrangement of music and servers
should be done through the Parish Office. The family is
welcomed to use the parish hall, and we also have catering
services.
- There are no Eulogies at Catholic Funerals.
Eulogies can take place at the prayer service in the funeral
home the night before the funeral, or during the service
at the grave-side after the funeral mass.
- We do not allow separate masses for one
month, six month or one year anniversaries of a
deceased person. These masses can be booked during one of
the regular parish week day
masses.
