Dear Parishioners,
Over the past 18 months, the Parish Finance
Committee has arranged and completed a new building feasibility
review with the Archdiocese, a Building Condition Report and
a fund raising feasibility study. These studies have concluded
that the Parish needs to proceed with the utmost of urgency
with Phase 1 of the proposed building renovation program.
This phase consists of substantial work that is required to
make the building water proof, rectify life safety issues
and re-grade and replace sidewalks and parking areas. The
estimated cost of this phase is approximately $570,000 and
we hope to have this work completed before next winter. The
Archdiocese has approved a loan in the amount of approximately
$230,000 to supplement the 340,000. already in reserve.
To initiate this Phase 1 of the program,
the Parish has retained an Archdiocese approved architect
who is currently working on drawings and tending documents.
We hope to have these ready in sufficient time to complete
the work as planned. We also hope that you understand that
our church will continue to serve this community for a long
time to come and that a new church is not feasible in the
foreseeable future.
We continue to invite your participation
in the process, and will appreciate any comments and suggestions
that you may have, as your help and expertise will be much
needed in the many committee positions that will be available
in order to make this project a success. Thank you all for
your support as we continue to build the Kingdom of God in
Richmond Hill.
