What is Spiritual Guidance?

Spiritual Guidance is the art of listening carried out in a one-to-one relationship by a trained and competent guide who journeys with another person with an ear for the way God is working in their life experience. This ministry is available through the parish and can be arranged by calling either of the spiritual directors on staff, Dr. Michael Hryniuk and Ms. Odilie Gaudet.

Spiritual guidance sessions are conversations that normally last about one hour and focus on where God may be present and calling a person in their lives. Sessions are strictly confidential and may also involve prayer, teaching and biblical reflection. There is no fee for the first introductory session. The suggested donation for ongoing sessions is $60.00 (parishioners) $80.00 (non-parishioners). This donation can be adjusted on a sliding scale and is discerned during the first session.

Throughout human history, people have sought guidance and support on their spiritual journey. At Our Lady Queen of the World parish, we are here to help you on the way of faith. The ministry of spiritual guidance provides friendship, discernment and encouragement to all persons as they seek to respond to God’s presence in their life.

Who Seeks Spiritual Guidance?

Young or old, married, single, divorced or widowed - the ministry of spiritual guidance is available for every person who feels drawn to a deeper spiritual journey. This ministry is for seekers and searchers from all walks of life who are yearning for something more: the Divine, meaning, purpose, how to live spiritually in a confusing world. Perhaps you feel a stirring in your heart, an inner longing and hunger to go deeper in your relationship with God. If so, spiritual direction may be for you.

Odilie Gaudet

Odilie Gaudet is engaged in parish ministry and spiritual guidance of men and women from all walks of life through her work in the Department of Lay Ministry of the Archdiocese. Her professional work has been in faith development and spiritual direction, as well as interfaith and ecumenical dialogue. Odilie has graduate degrees in Theology and Spiritual Direction from the Toronto School of Theology through Regis College. She is a member of Spiritual Directors International and offers spiritual direction in English, Spanish and French.


Michael Hryniuk, Ph.D.

Michael is a theologian, teacher, writer and consultant in the field of Christian spirituality, contemplative formation and ministry development. In 2005, he founded Theosis Resources, a consulting and teaching ministry that promotes contemplative formation and renewal in parish and denominational life. Michael is a member of Spiritual Directors International and has been engaged in retreat ministry and spiritual guidance for fifteen years.
