Groups - OLQW YOUTH GROUP - (W.H.A.M.) We Have A Mission
The mission for OLQW
Youth Group (W.H.A.M. ) is to share
the love of Christ with members of
the church, the community, and most importantly to one another.
We are here to build new friendships and to encourage individualism
while stimulating a peaceful atmosphere. We want to enable
today’s youth to become tomorrow’s Catholic leaders!
We welcome and encourage youth ages (14-20)
to come out and participate in events.
Our events Calendar is posted monthly at the back of the church.
Events such as:
Youth Prayer Group
Prayer nights are wonderful, relaxing nights just for the
youth. It is a night for us to pray and reflect and it
is filled with music, and powerful reflections. If you ever
need a time for yourself or just some peace and quiet, come
and join the prayer group!
Steubenville
Steubenville is an amazing event that is popular to all our
youth. It is a 3 day trip to Steubenville, Ohio at the beautiful
Franciscan University. Hundreds of youth from the US and Canada
come to this event. We listen to powerful speakers, great
and uplifting songs and we made new friends along the way.
Our parish has always taken a bus filled with youth to this
event and the youth always have an amazing and life-changing
time!
Movie Night
Movie night is a night for the youth to just hang out and
watch a great movie. It takes place in the Church basement
and food is served. This event always gives the youth a chance
to catch up with one another. The movie is always thrilling
and exciting. It is always better to see a movie here then
spend money
seeing one in the theatre.
Sport Night
Sport night is an event where we can play all our favourite
sports with the rest of the group.
It is a great way to release all our energy as well as getting
some great exercise with it.
Volunteering at Good Shepherd
The Good Shepherd is a shelter that helps the homeless in
Toronto. When we volunteer there we
always have a great and enjoyable time. We get to hang out
with our friends and we get to give back
to the community. At the shelter we do many things such as
folding the large amount of never-ending laundry, sorting
the large supple of food and our personal favourite, making
the beds for the homeless. Overall the day is a rewarding
day for all the youth and listen up all high school kids,
this volunteer work can earn you community service hours!!!
So don’t be afraid to join us for this event.
Volunteering at the Mariann Home
The Mariann Home is an elderly home where we volunteer at.
This place is very inviting and it is always great to visit
the elderly community. They always love to see new faces and
it is a great opportunity to get community service hours.
And there are many more events…
