Music is not a part of our celebration; it is the way we celebrate.
The hymn of praise is our way of life.
Singing in a choir at church is much more than one’s ability to sing, or one’s love of music. The members of the Music Ministry at Our Lady Queen of the World Church are participating in an important part of the liturgy. The call to prayer through the human voice is a powerful responsibility and all the members of the choirs have a strong and present desire to pray through music.
The choirs are open to people of all ages who would like to lead the congregation in prayer all year. These are dedicated individuals who enjoy the companionship, challenge and opportunity to share in God’s gift to them.

The Eucharist, is the “source and summit of our Christian life.” During Mass we remember Jesus’ sacrifice and celebrate the sacred mystery in union with Christ and one another.
Just as a meal sustains us physically, we need the Eucharist to sustain us spiritually.
In the simple ritual of giving the Eucharistic bread and cup to one another, the minister of communion becomes the means through whom the spirit challenges us to recognize and to manifest the Body of Christ in all his manners of coming. Those involved in this ministry must recognize the reality of Christ already present in his people gathered, if they are to authentically share with them his presence and the bread and cup.
While this is an extension of the Liturgy of the Eucharist to those who are unable to assemble on the Lord’s Day, these ministers are separate from the ministers of Communion during Mass because their ministry is different and requires special training and support.
In proclaiming the Scriptures, the lector becomes the voice through which the Spirit speaks in the worshipping assembly. The ministry of lector is a pivotal one, requiring study, reflection and a gift for proclamation.

By attending Mass on Sundays and the Holy Days of Obligation, we get to join with a community of believers to worship God. Listening to the teachings of Jesus, receiving Holy Communion, and being a part of a community are all things that help strengthen our faith.
The Spirit of God calls us to gather and empowers us to mutual compassion. In welcoming all who respond to the divine invitation, the Minister of Welcome becomes the hand of God through which the Spirit embraces the sons and daughters of the Kingdom of God and molds them into the one Body of Christ. Those involved in this ministry are asked to bring to it humility, warmth, and personal presence, as well as a gift for outreach.

Founded in December 2010, OLQW Prayer Shawl Ministry started with quite a few knitters but unfortunately, we lost some over the years!
This beautiful Ministry makes baby blankets, shawls, and lap robes throughout the year. These items are a symbol of beauty, care and peace for our loved ones, but most importantly, it brings love and joy to precious little angels.
You are invited to join! No matter what your skill level is, you’ll experience such a profound and uplifting feeling of creating warmth and comfort for people in need!
Each project is unique and begins with prayers for the recipient. The beautiful finished piece is then tagged with a special blessing! Before being donated, they are blessed by Father Jojo during mass! OLQW Prayer Shawl Ministry supports Rose of Sharon for Young Mothers, hospitals, OLQW bazaars, and the community at large. The group meets once every 2 months at the Church to share thoughts and insights.

While we gather around the table of the Lord and are nourished at Eucharist, other members of our community struggle to put food on their table. As members of the Body of Christ, we can reach out and help our brothers and sisters who might go hungry today. Please bring non-perishable food and toiletries items and put them in the food drive bin found at the entrance of the church. We are organizing this food drive in support of St. Vincent de Paul and Richmond Hill Community Food Bank, our local food bank.

Twice a year, see bulletin for more information.
These are wonderful opportunities to help less fortunate members of our community with the donations of gently used clothing, textiles and household linens. You are also encouraged not to forget boots and shoes as there is a pressing need for these items. There will be a truck in the church parking lot during the spring and fall seasons, accepting donations before and after each Mass. Volunteers will be there to help you.
You might be surprised to learn that we have some people among us who do not enjoy an abundance of this world’s goods. Therefore we would ask you to support our St. Vincent de Paul Society “HELP THE POOR BOX” it is always ready and waiting at both the north and main entrance of our church.
